- Project directing the £11.3M Climate Adaptation Scilly programme of coastal defences, climate change adaptation strategy and rainwater harvesting (2021-2024)
- Reporting to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature on a proposed World Heritage Site at Sof Omar Caves, Ethiopia (2019)
- Leading the environmental investigation into the cause of the 2016 Campylobacteriosis outbreak in Havelock North, New Zealand and appearing as an expert witness to the subsequent Government Inquiry (2016-2017)
- Leading development of software and database systems to implement novel techniques for spatial data (aerial, satellite, LiDAR) analysis, which later was spun-off as Anditi (2012-2014)
- Reporting on “Mainstreaming Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction in Policy, Planning and Budgetary Processes” [late draft available on request] for the Government of Samoa, funded by the United Nations Development Programme (2012)
- Leading the Environmental Impact Assessment for a $US500M mineral sand mine in Senegal, Africa (2010-2012)
- Preparing the Environmental Impact Assessment for a proposed limestone quarry at Timor, New South Wales, Australia and appearing as an expert witness in the subsequent Land and Environment Court hearing on the proposed development (2008-2010)
- Coordinating the New Zealand Government’s climate change adaptation and natural hazard policy work programmes, including developing early draft regulations on sea level rise response (not implemented), commercial forestry impacts and New Zealand Standard 9401:2008 on Managing Flood Risk (2007-2009)
- Managing the natural hazards and gravel management work programmes for Otago Regional Council, examining flood risk, coastal flooding and erosion, alluvial fans, tsunami, earthquakes, natural hazards strategy, gravel resource strategy and individual river gravel resource assessments (2003-2009)
